Mesmo que fique parado...

Terça-feira, 04.02.14

My friend Bertha Perez is a very energetic woman, who gets up at 5 in the morning to pray for people that she sometimes barely even knows...she is undoubtedly one of my heroes. A former officer of the Colombian Army, married to a spanish evangelical Pastor and now living in Portugal, there seems to be no end to what Bertha can do, or to the level of commitment that she's capable of. One of her projects is an ONG called Adan Portugal - Social Action Association for the Ones in Need. The name is pretty expletive - it's simply an ONG that develops projects that meet the most basic needs like clothes, shoes and medical care (things that we should all have) of vulnerable populations, like people with disabilities. One of their most regular events is their trip to Morocco, which happens in April, and that includes volunteers that specialize in health care, but not only. I've been told that this opportunity is truly a blessing...also for the volunteers. It's pretty obvious when you look at their photos and videos that there's a lot of need out there, that you have to jump through all kinds of obstacles, that it would be so much easier to just sit on your couch and let someone else fix what's wrong with the world...but something happens to you when you challenge yourself beyhond your abilities, when you do something that's a little scary and maybe even risky, when you subject yourself to the possibility of being mocked or dismissed, simply to stand in the gap for the ones that have no voice to be heard. If you think you have what it takes to meet these challenges, or that you don't but you'd still like to help - why not be part of this group? The best thing you can do is contact Adan, and to know how just watch this little video I made for you...there're many ways to help even if you stay where you are!
